- Maintenance of mirror registers for listed securities (debt and equity), including regular reconciliation to CSDB records and external registers (for those with registers in other jurisdictions).
- Supporting issuers of securities listed on Botswana Stock Exchange, large public and private companies, with investor management services.
- Maintenance of principal registers for un-listed securities (debt and equity), including issuance of certificates.
- Calculation agency services for determination of gross and net distributions due to securities holders including EFT and cheque payments, full reconciliation of bank accounts and processing of replacement payments, generation of taxation forms for submission to BURS, email and physical confirmations to security holders.

I have been receiving dividend or interest cheques but now need my payments to be paid directly to my bank account as the Bank of Botswana has declared that all cheques be discontinued from 31 December 2023
1. Please complete the Central Securities Depository Botswana (CSDB)change of details form and email it to your stockbroker along with the latest copy of your ID (Omang for citizens; passport for non-citizens) so that they may liaise with the CSDB to update your banking details.
2. Alternatively you may also complete a banking details form for the relevant Issuer and email it to investor@dss.co.bw along with a copy of your ID (Omang for citizens; passport for non-citizens) and other KYC documents required.
I want to sell or buy shares or linked units.
1. You will need to liaise directly with your stockbroker. If you cannot remember who your stockbroker is contact us via email remembering to send a copy of your ID (Omang for citizens; passport for non-citizens).
2. If you do not have a stockbroker then this may indicate that your shares or linked units are being held in an Omnibus account on the CSDB (similar to a suspense account) and you will then need to contact a stockbroker in order for them to liaise with the CSDB to open an account for you and then to arrange to transfer your shares or linked units into your own account.
I want to reinvest my dividend or interest payments to buy more shares or linked units.
1. You will need to liaise with your stockbroker as they are the only ones authorised to trade (buy or sell shares or linked units) on your behalf.
2. If you do not have a stockbroker you will need to appoint one and will be required to open a CSDB account.
I have changed my details (contact address, email, name, contact numbers, banking details).
1. Kindly complete the CSDB change of details form and email it to your stockbroker along with the latest copy of your ID (Omang for citizens; passport for non-citizens) so that they may liaise with the CSDB to update your details.
2. If you do not have a CSD account then you will need to appoint a stockbroker to assist you.
3. If you have changed your name since buying your shares or linked units, you will also need to include your marriage certificate or divorce certificate or name change letter from the relevant authority.
My relative had shares or linked units but is now deceased, how do I claim these shares or linked units and outstanding dividends or interest payments?
1. Kindly liaise with your deceased relative’s stockbroker in order for them to assist you with the process of transferring these shares or linked units to the rightful beneficial owner(s).
2. If you do not know who your late relative’s stockbroker kindly email us attaching a copy of the death certificate, letter appointing the executor, and the executor’s ID (Omang for citizens; passport for non-citizens) so that we can find out who they used.
3. If these shares are still being held in the Omnibus account on the CSDB (similar to a suspense account) then you will need to appoint a stockbroker to assist you with opening an estate late CSD account in order to transfer the shares or linked units out of the Omnibus account so as to be able to transfer them to the rightful beneficial owner(s).
4. In order to claim any outstanding dividends or interest payments for your deceased relative the executor will need to complete a replacement payment form and email it along with a copy of the letter appointing them as executor, copy of their ID (Omang for citizens; passport for non-citizens), death certificate, letter from the Tribal Authority or exact from their Will detailing who are the rightful beneficiary(ies) and ID copies for the witnesses and beneficiaries. The beneficiary(ies) will also need to complete banking mandate forms for payment directly into their bank account(s).
I have not been receiving my dividends or interest payments or my dividend or interest cheques are now not valid due to the Bank of Botswana declaring that all cheques be discontinued from 31 December 2023 and therefore need replacing.
1. Kindy complete a replacement payment form and a banking details form then email to us along with a copy of your ID (Omang for citizens; passport for non-citizens) so that we may liaise with the Issuer to have your payment replaced.
2. As these are replacement payments there is no specific timeline for repayment of dividends or interest, however, once we have had confirmation from the Issuer that the payment has been made, we will send a letter via email (or post if no email address is given), detailing what has been replaced and when it was paid.
